Piedmont Star – ‘Piccolo’ Single Centre

Sample the ‘Strada Reale dei Vini’ and renowned Piemontese cuisine; pedal off to beautiful shallow lakes and tour where castles tower over outstretched vineyards in the foothills of the Alps. Turin is on the circular tour menu, if you fancy it – our route includes letting the train take the strain on the way there,so you can have a relaxed pedal back. Itinerary
There is a choice of excellent circular rides exploring the historic towns and villages, castles, vineyards and wildlife-rich lakelands of Piedmont’s Canavese area. A train ticket is included for you and your bike to travel down to the famous city of Turin if you wish, so you can also enjoy a pedal back along the Po and take in historic Chivasso and Mazzé en route back to Romano Canavese.

The circular rides:
We offer a choice of 5 circular routes with distances between 23 and 37 miles (35 to 60 kms), with each ride carefully planned to make sure you see the best of the area and that you travel the distance you are most comfortable with.
You can go with the flow of your energy levels southwards along the Dora Baltea river to the clear waters of Lake Candia, then enjoy superb vineyard views from the top of the Moraine hills, returning to Romano Canavese via the ‘Strada Reale dei Vini’ – the Royal Wine Route. Head up to the imposing castle towers of Ivrea and its little lakes, following the Franciscan pilgrimage route homeward or pick your way through kiwi and peach plantations on the return from Lake Viverone. The 9th century Castello Pavone is worth the climb and Pavone village, set on its rocky slopes offers Piedmontese Baroque at its finest. We think you’ll want to gear up and enjoy the cafés and culture of Turin too, so let the train take the strain and enjoy the pedal back along the Po river, then past some impressive castles and the charming small town of Chivasso.
All of the routes offer excellent cycling and there are plenty of opportunities to stop for refreshments.
